SCHMÖLZERARCHITECTURE

A hilltop location overlooking the historic town of Beechworth was the site for a new type of family home. Adjacent to a recent subdivision with more typical suburban housing, the design brings contemporary living and refined detail in a form that acknowledges the history of the town. Contrary to neighbouring dwelling, the site retains a large front facing garden to optimise natural light, both inside and out. A simple extruded gable form masks discreet integration of recessed eaves, northerly aspect to all living spaces, and an arrangement which enhances access to winter sun, whilst protecting from the harsh summers of North East Victoria.
